A GOLF club near Bromyard has launched a drive to save electricity.
Plans to construct a wind turbine at Sapey Golf Club have been sent to Herefordshire Council.
The club wants to build a 20-metre mast and transformer shed in the western corner of the course.
The fenced-off mast would be 600 metres from the nearest building and will not be visible from Upper Sapey.
Members believe the 20kw turbine will provide enough electricity to run the clubhouse and other facilities.
Proprietor Jim Preece hopes the turbine will spin into action by the end of summer.
“We’ve been spending too much money on electricity so we want to make our own,” said Mr Preece.
