LITTLE Birch residents who have been without a local pub since last autumn are to replace it themselves – in the village hall.
Villagers who formerly used the Castle Inn, the future of which has remained uncertain since it closed for refurbishment last October, have arranged a “pub night”, complete with open mic and live music, for February 20.
It is the latest of several events organised by locals who formed the Save the Castle campaign last year.
Its publicity officer Christina McClean said: “Since the pub closed there have been very few opportunities for the community to meet and socialise, and the pub has been greatly missed.”
Entry on the night is free from 7.30pm onwards but a fund-raising raffle will be held for the campaign.
