THE parents of a Hereford man who died from carbon monoxide poisoning have donated money from a book charting his life to charity.
Eddie Tomlinson was overcome by poisonous gases from a faulty water heater while studying in Beirut in 2006.
Using notes from a diary which charted his time in the Lebanese capital, Howard and Heather Tomlinson penned a book about their son, a former pupil at Hereford Cathedral School.
Celebrating Eddie was released last year and £1,000 in proceeds have just been donated by the couple to the COGas Safety charity. Other charities are also set to benefit.
Copies of Celebrating Eddie are on sale in the Hereford Cathedral bookshop and at Pilgrim’s Progress, Palace Yard, Hereford.
■ Meanwhile, two former Cathedral School pupils have been commended by the gas safety charity for their efforts in a poster competition aimed at educating youngsters on the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Lucy Evans and Charlotte Abrahams jointly designed a poster giving clear instructions on how to keep safe from gas. Judges awarded them one of two individual awards.
