HEREFORD schoolboy Elliot Kowal has joined the world of adults in a hurry.

At 13, he has passed his First Aid at Work Award – recognised by the Health and Safety Executive – and is thought to be one of the youngest in the country to achieve it.

Elliot, a pupil at Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School, took the exam after a fourday intensive course at Bedstone College.

He said there was a lot to learn and the exams were difficult but he passed first time, with his bandaging in particular described as ‘immaculate’.

Elliot had time off school for the course, now considered a vocational qualification.
