PREVIOUSLY unseen Herefordshire heritage sites are opening their doors to the public for free in September.

Twenty sites in Ross, Bromyard, Leominster, Ledbury and Hereford will be open from Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14 as part of a national initiative - Heritage Open Days.

Highlights include Grange Court in Leominster - a market hall dating from 1633 and St Katherine’s Chapel in Ledbury, dating from 1232, which are not normally open to the public.

There is also free entry to the Mappa Mundi at Hereford Cathedral, the chance to visit the Mayor’s Parlour and the silver vault at Hereford Town Hall, a World War One exhibition at Bromyard Local History Centre, the chance to see the servants staircase and footman’s room at Berrington Hall and exhibitions at St John Medieval Museum and Coningsby Hospital in Hereford.

Hereford Light Infantry Museum, Goodrich Castle, the Cider Museum, Leominster Musuem and the Waterworks Museum are also taking part.
