DETECTIVES have this morning (Sunday) confirmed that the "bonfire body" found near Much Dewchurch is that of David Langdon.

But a post-mortem examination of the badly burned body has given the investigation team few clues to work with.

The movements of Mr Langdon, a woodsman/landscape gardener in his 40s, over the past week are now crucial to the inquiry.

Mr Langdon's body was found on the remains of a bonfire last Thursday night after a 999 call to police.

He was well-known around Much Dewchurch and Wormelow.

More than 30 detectives, including homicide specialists from the West Mercia Police major incident team, are working on the inquiry named Operation Facility.

Two women and a man arrested in connection with the death are still being questioned after magistrates approved a custody extension.

Detective Chief Inspector David Llewellin, of Herefordshire CID, said conflicting sightings of Mr Langdon over the past week needed clarification - because his time of death could not yet be confirmed.

"This is the sort of information that is vital to us now," said DCI Llewellin.
