HEREFORDSHIRE residents are warned to be alert for bogus callers.
Police believe men posing as water utility officials have been calling at addresses in the county.
Detective Sergeant Tim Powell, said: "Do not let anyone into your home unless you are happy you know them or you are happy with the ID that they have provided.
" If you don't know the person, check the ID. If you're still unhappy, phone the company they purport to be from and check with them. If the callers are genuine, they will not mind while you check this out."
Anyone with information about suspicious callers can contact police on 08457 444888.
*Three men have been arrested in connection to similar offences. They are currently on police bail whilst further enquiries are made.
