PLANS for a major composting plant near Hereford have been revealed.
Severn Waste Services – the company that operates waste management facilities for Herefordshire Council – has identified a site at Upper House Farm, Moreton-on-Lugg, and will formally submit its planning application over the next few weeks.
The village itself gets a first chance to view the plans tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at an exhibition in the village hall.
The proposed plant would compost green garden waste delivered to the household waste sites that Severn Waste manages.
Ian Barber, the company’s marketing director, said Herefordshire generated around 6,500 tonnes of garden waste last year, an amount expected to rise.
“The facility will only process green garden materials. Without animal or food wastes or other noxious materials, we do not foresee any adverse impacts from the operation,” he said.
