I READ with interest that Upton Town Council is once again increasing the council tax this year by two per cent, last year by 2.4 per cent, when all councils were asked not to.
Is this to pay for the £25,000 spent on the Christmas lights?
Were they any improvement on the old blue ones?
Slightly, a little more colourful, but not worth the expense and would have been a bit more acceptable if the contract had gone locally especially as Upton Tourist and Trade are always telling us to shop locally.
With the proposal to hand over the free car park to Malvern and make it fee paying and the latest rumour circulating that there is a proposal to sell off the Memorial Hall, will there be any need for a town council at all in the future?
