EXHIBITION - Time Out, an exhibition of leisure activities from the past up to the present, has artefacts on loan from local people, Hereford Museum loans service, and local history societies. it will be in St Peter’s Church, Withington as part of the Festival of Churches weekend. The collection includes many children’s toys and games, embroidery, patchwork, knitting, weaving, artwork, photography, carpentry, sport, gardening and music.

CAR BOOT SALE - The sale is on Saturday in the village hall car park. Boots are £5 each, with setup at 10am. Buyers admitted free, starting at 11am. Refreshments will be available and the sale will move indoors if wet. The event is in aid of St Peter's Church. For enquiries, call 01432 850074.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING - Residents and staff of Orchard House Care Home, Withington, held a coffee morning on September 27, raising £100 by selling coffee, cakes and raffle tickets. Orchard House thanks family, friends and visitors for their support.

FUND-RAISER - Staff and parents from Withington Primary School headed up Penyfan at the weekend in order to raise money for a new school library. A group of 24 reached the peak and raised a fantastic amount of money.

YOUTH CLUB - The new young club at Withington Village Hall is in desperate need of adult helpers to run it, alongside an employed trained youth worker. All volunteers will be given the chance to do an OCN level one course in introductory youth work which can be done at the hall. From February 3, from 6pm to 8pm, the club will be meeting weekly. If you can spare the time, are keen to get involved and at the same time gain a recognised qualification then please get in touch. WITHINGTON WEEKEND - On June 11 between noon and 2pm there will be a school fete with stalls, events, Dolloway Dancers, barbecue, maypole dancing and bouncy castle. Between 11am and 4.30pm (also noon to 2.30pm on June 12) St Peter's Church has an exhibition of vintage farm tractors, equipment and tools as well as floral displays, live music, tea and cakes. At 5pm in the village hall and fields the grand opening of play builder equipment will take place with games, barbecue, beer and soft drinks and a balloon race. On June 12 between 11am and noon there will be a service at St Peter’s Church to lay down the old Royal British Legion standard and dedicate the new one. On the village fields there will be an exhibition of vintage military vehicles.

Police AND COUNCIL BRIEFING - On Saturday between 10am and noon, the West Mercia Police will be giving a briefing about the force’s work in the Withington area. Officers will be setting up shop near Withington Village Stores and will be very pleased to answer any questions that local residents, including those living in Westhide and Preston Wynne, have. Representatives of Amey, Herefordshire Council and the Withington Group Parish Council will also be in attendance and residents are encouraged to come along and find out how services are.

SPORT RELIEF - On Friday the children at Withington Primary School ran a mile for Sport Relief by completing nine laps round their school field. They were supported by parents, grandparents and teachers. All children brought donations in order to raise money for the appeal.
