Wigmore volunteers needed and shop birthday
10:23am Thursday 26th April 2012 in Wigmore
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Wigmore Village Hall should soon be looking fresh again.
Following the offer of funding from a Herefordshire Council Community Projects Grant, the committee is hoping that villagers will turn out to help repaint the hall. “The outside of the village hall badly needs doing,” says committee member Carol Holloway. “We get visitors to Wigmore Castle from all over the world, so we want them and locals to get a good impression of Wigmore. We will be having four working weekends during June and hope villagers can spare a few hours painting to enable us to qualify for the grant. We will be providing all the equipment, plus refreshments.”
SHOP BIRTHDAY - Mortimer Country Stores, Wigmore’s community shop run by volunteers, is celebrating its fourth birthday on May 10. Pop in for a chat and a piece of celebration cake. Despite the economy, the shop is doing well, thanks to a cadre of dedicated residents and a part-time manager. And thanks to a grant from Herefordshire Council’s Community Pride Grant scheme, there is a new chiller to store perishable produce.
For all members, the AGM is on Wednesday at 6pm in Wigmore Village Hall, where soup and pudding will be served. Call the shop at 01568 770307 to confirm attendance.
