Wigmore plant sale

PLANT SALE - Wigmore and District Gardening Club is again holding its very popular plant sale on Sunday, 2pm-4pm, in Wigmore Village Hall. The sale will include vegetable plants, bedding plants and substantial shrubs and perennials. Tea and homemade cakes will also be available, together with friendly members of the club willing to offer advice on which plant might be best for particular situations.

JUMBLE SALE - The Cameo Group will be holding its annual jumble sale on January 19 at 2pm in the village hall. Come along and buy toys, clothes, bric-a-brac and books.

CHRISTMAS SHOW - Country singer-songwriter Julian Dawson and jazz saxophonist Howard Turner will be performing at Wigmore village hall on December 21 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 each and available in advance only from Mortimer Country Stores in Wigmore. All proceeds go to the St James Church Wigmore Appeal Fund.

SCHOOL FAIR - The Christmas fair is on Saturday at Wigmore Primary School from 2pm-5pm. Browse the stalls for local homemade crafts, gifts and produce, visit the Secrets Room and enjoy seasonal refreshments.

YOUTH CLUB - At Teme Valley Youth Project is open three days a week for young people 11-25years old. Tuesday 6.30-8.30 (drop in session), Wednesday 4-6pm (art session), Thursday 6-8pm (drop in session). We have a lot of exciting projects coming up next year.

ART FOR YOUNG PEOPLE - Teme Valley Youth Project and an Acre of Art Gallery in Wigmore are providing free art workshops for young people aged 11-25 every Wednesday, 4pm- 6pm. Young people are introduced to different art techniques by established local artists. Call 01568 770110. Volunteers are urgently needed to help run art sessions for young people.

WHALEBONE LIVE - Following the huge success of their concert at Wigmore Village Hall last year, critically acclaimed acoustic trio Whalebone return with their new show on October 13. Whalebone’s Origins tour features high energy acoustic music alongside haunting atmospheric tunes. The show includes brand-new material, inventive interpretations of traditional music, rock classics and original material from their award winning album Three Fires. “This tour will also feature a very rare baritone eight-string guitar”

TEME VALLEY YOUTH PROJECT - A youth club run by young people for young people. Its mission is to engage young people’s creativity and to provide resources and services which meet young people’s needs and enhance their inclusion in the local Community. Based in Wigmore, it is open Tuesday 5.30-8.30pm, Wednesday 4-6pm, Thursday 6-8pm. The club is open for young people 11-16, 17-25 years old. Music, art, cooking, theatre, films, discussion groups, film making, relax, free time, free space and much more. The organisation desperately needs more volunteers to help to run its youth sessions.
