Whitchurch Primary School National Book Week
8:00am Thursday 20th October 2011 in Whitchurch
NATIONAL BOOK WEEK - Book worms get reading at Whitchurch Primary School.
In common with many schools up and down the country, children at Whitchurch have taken part in lots of activities during the annual national book week.
Building on the work to develop a real love of reading that already takes place at Whitchurch, parents, governors and the community police officer were invited into school to read to classes. Children in Aspen class went on a teddy bears’ picnic, pupils in Cedar wrote their own stories about their teddies and children in Rowan produced some excellent mountain rescue books. Pupils in Year 6 wrote some stunning book reviews to recommend books to their families.
The highlight of the week however, was on Friday when everyone including staff, came to school dressed in their pyjamas. The whole school enjoyed an afternoon of bedtime stories and hot chocolate. The week was so popular that more book weeks are planned for the rest of the year.
