NETBALL AND FOOTBALL - Village teams had a very successful time at the annual Rural Schools Tournament, hosted by St Mary's School, Credenhill. The netballers, defending champions, had a great run through the round robin section, which led to a tie with Canon Pyon and a play off. In a tense final game, Canon Pyon just pipped it 1-0. A great display of sporting skill and endeavour for the spectators.

GARDEN CLUB – Wellington garden club will meet in the community centre today (Thursday) at 7.30pm. Our speaker for the evening will be Victoria Louge who will show us all about practical propagation, how to obtain plants for free, always useful but especially at the moment. As always there will be refreshments and a raffle.

BELL TOWER OPEN EVENING - Tomorrow (Friday) from 7-9pm there will be an opportunity to see the results of the recently completed restoration work. Everyone is welcome to come along to Wellington parish church and listen to the sound that has rung out over the village for the last 600 years, to see the bells and to have a go at ringing them.

GARDEN SHOW - The Garden Club will be holding its annual show on Saturday in the Wellington Community Centre, with viewing open to the public from 2pm. Entry is free and in addition to the exhibits on display there will be a raffle, refreshments and sales table.

HOLIDAY CLUB AND SERVICE - Olympians Holiday Bible Club at Wellington Chapel is for children aged five to 11, costing £5, from Tuesday to Friday next week, 9.30am to 12.30pm. There will be a family service on September 2 at 10.30am. Quizzes, Bible stories, activities, crafts and lots of fun. OLYMPIC FETE - Wellington Primary School PTA holds its Olympic Fete on Saturday, noon-2pm. Join in the fun with games, stalls, bouncy castle, barbecue, refreshments and much more. The grand draw first prize is a Dell laptop. All funds go to school projects.
