Wigmore gardening club, village hall

GARDENING CLUB - Wigmore and District Gardening Club is again holding its very popular plant sale on May 20 from 2pm-4pm in Wigmore Village Hall. The sale will include vegetable plants, bedding plants and substantial shrubs and perennials (that can be planted this year and enjoyed year after year). Tea and home-made cakes will also be available, together with friendly members of the club willing to offer advice on which plant might be best for particular situations.
All proceeds to be shared between the club, Midlands Air Ambulance and Greenfingers, a group in Leominster which helps young people with learning difficulties to develop gardening skills. For more information, contact Joy Ardy on 01568 770023.
VILLAGE HALL - Wigmore Village Hall should soon be looking fresh again. Following the offer of a grant from the Herefordshire Council Community Projects fund, the committee is hoping that villagers will turn out to help repaint the hall. “We were pleased to get the grant, as the outside of the village hall badly needs doing,” said committee member Carol Holloway (pictured right). “We get visitors to Wigmore Castle from all over the world, so we want them and locals to get a good impression of Wigmore. We will be having four working weekends during June and hope villagers can spare a few hours painting to enable us to qualify for the grant.
We will be providing all the equipment, plus refreshments.”
