FREE WORKSHOPS - Run by Teme Valley Youth Project, which is a vibrant and popular series of termly sessions designed to increase confidence, learn new skills and have fun. Visual art workshops designed to suit 11 to 16-year-olds. In these sessions young people will be introduced to different art techniques by established local artists.

EXHIBITION - Time Out, an exhibition of leisure activities from the past up to the present, has artefacts on loan from local people, Hereford Museum loans service, and local history societies. it will be in St Peter’s Church, Withington as part of the Festival of Churches weekend. The collection includes many children’s toys and games, embroidery, patchwork, knitting, weaving, artwork, photography, carpentry, sport, gardening and music.

GARDEN CLUB - The next meeting of Wellington Garden Club will be in the community centre next Thursday, September 19, at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Maurice Everette and the topic is Autumn Colour, through flowers, fruit and foliage. Visitors are always welcome. There will be refreshments and a raffle.

OPEN GARDENS - St Margaret’s Church and Wellington Garden Club is holding an open gardens event on July 6 and 7 from noon until 6pm. There will be 19 gardens open throughout the village and light refreshments will be available during the day at the community centre. There will be a plant sale at the community centre where it will also be possible to park. Programmes at £5 per adult are available from the church on the day. There will be a songs of praise service in the church at 6.30pm on the Sunday.

PARISH FETE - Yarpole parish fete opens on June 22, at 1pm at Brook House Farm in the centre of Yarpole. Parking will be off street. Live music by Murray Orpin’s great trio The Alms House Band. No entry fee for school children and there will be lots of games for younger children including a toddler assault course, teddy bear hunt and the amazing ladder game.

PLANT SALE - Wigmore and District Gardening Club is again holding its very popular plant sale on Sunday, 2pm-4pm, in Wigmore Village Hall. The sale will include vegetable plants, bedding plants and substantial shrubs and perennials. Tea and homemade cakes will also be available, together with friendly members of the club willing to offer advice on which plant might be best for particular situations.

NETBALL AND FOOTBALL - Village teams had a very successful time at the annual Rural Schools Tournament, hosted by St Mary's School, Credenhill. The netballers, defending champions, had a great run through the round robin section, which led to a tie with Canon Pyon and a play off. In a tense final game, Canon Pyon just pipped it 1-0. A great display of sporting skill and endeavour for the spectators.
