RELAY - A group of youngsters got into this year’s sporting spirit by running a relay and helping to raise more than £400 for their village nursery. The children from Shobdon Arches Preschool were sponsored to run a relay race carrying individual laminated letters to spell out the name of their nursery.

Money was also raised through a cake stall and draw. Despite the disappointing summer so far, organisers were lucky with the weather, while the children did themselves proud and were awarded medals and certificates.

The money raised will help buy a new train track with accessories, as well as other toys, so preschool children will benefit from this event for a long time to come. The committee and staff thanked everyone involved for making it a success and the businesses which also supported the initiative – Morrisons, Roundabout Stationery, The Workhouse Gallery and Café (Presteigne), Leominster RBL Club, Barber and Manuel Delicatessen (Leominster) and E and J Solutions. The nursery still has spaces for September 2012 and welcomes parents who might be interesting in enrolling their children to come and visit.
