COMMUNITY DRAW - Presteigne and Norton Community Support held its June community draw recently. Amy Price drew the following winners. 1st prize of £20 went to Elaine Miller, 2nd prize of £15 was Mr J Pound and 3rd prize of £12 went to Ann McAlinden. The next draw will take place at the beginning of July.

BINGO - There is bingo at The Bowling Club every Thursday evening from 8.15pm.

Everyone is most welcome. Good prizes.

RECITAL - Lavinia O' Meagher will be giving a piano recital on Sunday at The Assembly Rooms from 3pm. Lavinia who used to live in Lingen will include the works of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin. Tickets are £8 and can be purchased from The Judges Lodgings on 260650 or at the door.

TRIP - The Friends of St Michael’s in Discoed are running a trip to Bishop’s Palace in Hereford on Tuesday leaving at 10.30am.

There will be a guided tour of the palace with Kathy Priddis. The tour will be followed by your own picnic in the palace gardens. The cost will be £10 and booking is essential.

OPEN GARDENS - The gardens at Ashley Farm will be open on June 30, from 2-5pm by kind permission of Roger and Jackie Pietroni. Refreshments will be available.

RACES - This Saturday is the annual Presteigne harness races at The Broadheath from 1pm. There will be a bar, refreshments and licensed booker makers on site.

Everyone is most welcome.

CONCERT - There is a ‘music for a summer evening’ concert at The Assembly Rooms on June 30, from 7.30pm. Performing will be Clare Butterworth (soprano), Sophie Phillips (soprano), Tom Durston-Smith (bass-bar) and accompanied by Robert Green (FROC). The concert of classical songs and arias from Mozart, Purcell, Haydn, Schubert, Dvorak, Wagner and Finzi. Admission will be £8 for adults which will include a glass of wine and £4 for children. All proceeds will go to Kington Choral Society and The Air Ambulance. For reservations and more information call 01885 410233.

EXHIBITION - The Judges’ Lodgings are holding a sporting community exhibition throughout July. Have you any local sporting items they can borrow. GARDENS OPEN - The gardens at Lower House Farm in Sutton will be open on Saturday to the public. The extensive gardens, pond and conservation will open at 11.30am and there will be informal and organised farm walks. There will be refreshments available as well as plants for sale. At 2.30pm the Ludlow Waites medieval town band will play. Dogs are welcome on a lead (but not on the farm walks). CHESS CLUB - Do you fancy a game of chess against someone different? If so why not come and join Presteigne Chess Club on Tuesday evenings at The Farmers Inn from 7.30pm. All abilities are welcome. For further details call David Hancock on 231208.

SUMMER FAIR - There is a summer fair in St Andrew’s Church churchyard, Saturday from 2pm. There will be a cake stall, plants, flowers, bric a brac, raffle, tombola plus lots more. Everyone welcome.

KEEP FIT - Carol Bowen will take keep fit classes at The Royal British Legion Club on Tuesday evenings from 6.30-7.30pm.

Sessions are £3.50. It is an ideal opportunity to do exercise when either standing or sitting to music and meet new people at the same time. Please wear suitable footwear and bring a drink.

JAM AT THE RAD - You are invited to come and play for fun at The Radnorshire Arms on Monday evenings from 7.30pm. There's no need to book a slot just turn up and join in.

BOWLS - Are you interested in taking up bowls? If so the bowling club are holding new members evenings on Mondays from 6.30pm. You don't have to be an expert.

Tuition will be provided if required. Everyone welcome.

CAR BOOT - John Beddoes Parent Teacher Association is organising a grand car boot sale in the school playground on July 1, from 12midday til 4pm. Booters can arrive from 11.30am and public from 12noon please.
