WARTIME - The Royal British Legion Club has its second annual D Day afternoon, Sandbags and Sirens, on Saturday from 2.30pm. There will be a traditional tea served at 4pm. Other activities going on will include a number of Second World War military vehicles on display along with music of the era led by singalong stars Tony Sullivan and Lenny. Local soloist Lisa Beaumont will perform a number of songs throughout the afternoon. The bar will be open and period dress for the occasion is optional. Admission is free but donations will be welcome.

WINNERS - At Presteigne and Norton Community Support May draw, winners were: £20 Pauline Moody, £15 D Morris, £12 M Cummings.

KUNG FU - There are adult Wing Tsun Kung Fu classes starting in Presteigne on Wednesday nights. For details, call 260656.

FLOWERS - There is a Diamond Jubilee flower festival at Norton Church on Saturday from 10.30am-4.30pm, Sunday from 12.30pm-4.30pm and Monday from 10.30am-4.30pm. There is also a Songs of Praise service in the church on Sunday at 6pm. Everyone is welcome.

GARDENS OPEN - The Walled Garden at Knill is open to the public on Monday from 2pm- 5pm. Admission is £4 for adults with accompanied children free.

LIBRARY - The library will be closed on bank holiday Monday and Tuesday.

STREET PARTY - The High Street will be closed from noon until late on Sunday for the jubilee street party. The party starts at 3pm.

There will be lots going on including music, entertainment, refreshments, fancy dress, dancing, plus lots more.

ARTS - The next meeting of Presteigne and Borders Floral Arts Society is on June 13 at the Memorial Hall from 7.30pm. Phil Wolf of Frost’s Flowers will give a demonstration an this month’s competition theme is 60 Glorious Years. Visitors are welcome.

DANCE - Presteigne Dance Club with hosts Frank and Pauline Davies invite you to a celebration dinner dance at the Memorial Hall in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Saturday at 7pm prompt. For details, pop into Artisan Print to see the menu or contact Frank or Pauline.

ARTS AND CRAFTS - The monthly arts and crafts fair is at the Assembly Rooms on Saturday from 9.30am-3.30pm. All the stalls are by local artists showing their own work.

OPEN DAY - Presteigne Allotments Association is holding an open day on June 16. Pop along and see what’s growing at the moment. Everyone is welcome.

MUSIC - The band Skinny Bones will be playing up-tempo rock classics covering various decades on Sunday in The Radnorshire Arms garden from 7pm. Admission is free.

PRESTEIGNE FOOD TRAIL - There will be a food trail in Presteigne on June 16 from 9am-6pm in various parts of the town. There will be lots going on including cafes, stalls, tents, music, gardens, workshops plus more.

GARDENS OPEN - The gardens at Stapleton Castle Court will be open in aid of charity on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 2pm- 6pm. Refreshments will be available.

GARDEN PARTY - The annual party in aid of funds for Presteigne and Borders Floral Arts Society is at 1 Clatterbrune Estate on June 9 from 11am-3.30pm. There will be light lunches and refreshments available as well as a tombola, plant stall, raffle, bric-a-brac, cakes, produce plus lots more. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

TEA - You are invited to afternoon tea and a variety concert at Cwmwhitton between Whitton and Knighton on June 17 from 4.30pm. Admission is £8 for adults and £4 for children. All profit will be divided between Whitton Church and the Wales Air Ambulance. For details, call 01547 560209.

MARKET - The monthly market is at The Memorial Hall on Saturday from 9.30am. All the usual stalls will be there.

VINTAGE SHOW - The annual Presteigne and Norton Vintage Car and Motorcycle Show is at Wentes Meadow on June 10 from 10.30am-4.30pm. There will be an autojumble, car boot sale, refreshments plus lots more. All gate money and donations will go to the Wales Air Ambulance. MUSIC - There will be live music featuring Rhythm Thieves at No 46 Wine Bar tomorrow (Friday) from 8.30pm. The five-piece band plays dancy folk rock music. Admission is £3.

SERVICE - This Sunday’s church services include Holy Communion at St Andrew’s Church at 8am, a jubilee special service at Lingen at 9.30am and a jubilee special service at St Andrew’s at 11am.

OPEN MIC NIGHT - There is an open mic evening with Stevie Yeomans at the Wine Bar next Wednesday from 8.30pm. Just turn up and play or turn up and listen.

DARTS - There is a cash singles darts competition on Monday at the Royal British Legion Club. Registration is at noon with a toe the oche at 1pm. Entry is £5. To enter or for more information, call Tom on 07799 268007.

100 CLUB - The football club 100 Club draw for May, was at the Radnorshire Arms.

Winners were: £100 Gill Preece, £50 Derek and Gail Hatfield, £40 Richard and Anne Davies, £30 Mick Mills and £25 Mike Preece.

The next draw is in The Royal Oak on June 29 at 9pm.
