MUSIC - The popular artist John Kirkpatrick will be performing at Hindwell, Walton, on July 4, from 7.30pm. CAR BOOT - There is a car boot sale at the primary school on Saturday, 10am to noon. Booters can arrive from 9.15am. No cars will be allowed on the yard after 9.45am. Boots will cost £5 and all proceeds go to the after-school club.

CHOIR - There is a summer concert featuring St Peter’s Chamber Choir from York at St Mary’s Church in Pilleth on Saturday from 7.30pm. The mixed chamber choir is from a school that claims to be the oldest in England with its foundation dating back to 627 AD.

Their programme will include choral music from the 16th century together with part-songs and richly harmonised arrangements of more contempory voal music. Donations of £5 are invited which will include a glass of wine. For further details, call Juliet on 260060.

RACES - This Saturday sees the very popular Presteigne harness racing at Broadheath Common. The first race will commence at 1.30pm. There will be on-course bookmakers along with a bar and refreshments. Admission will be £6 for adults with under-14s free.

ARTS AND CRAFT FAIR - The monthly Arts and Crafts Fair will take place on July 3 at the Assembly Rooms from 9am. Local artists’ work will be available including porcelain, silk and silver, stone, wood, wool along with flowers and plants. Refreshments will be available.
