PUPPET SHOW - As part of the Arts Alive season, Freehand Theatre creates a memorable and reassuring journey through the woods with its use of puppetry, colour and especially composed music in Little Red You Know Who, Saturday at 2pm in St Peter’s Church. A treat for children aged three-plus and their adults. All tickets are £5, and the café will be open for afternoon tea.

Handmade baby clothes, border spinners, Fair Trade, Golden Valley Crafts and Hats, Sally’s Photographs and Cards, fused glass, Forever Living (Aloe Vera), cakes, Save the Children Christmas cards, rapeseed oil, pet portraits photography, lots of Christmas gifts. Refreshments available all day, homemade soup lunches noon to 2pm.

GILBERT AND SULLIVAN SOCIETY - On Saturday at 7.30pm, under the musical director Alan Durman, the society will present a jubilee concert. An evening of songs from the shows with a patriotic flavour will end with a Last Night of the Proms finale, including Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. Flags will be available for waving, as will song sheets so that the audience can join in. Doors will open at 7pm. Tickets at £10 are available from Enid on 01981 550683 or on the door. There will be a bar.

Peterchurch Crafty Cafe

CRAFTY CAFE - Crafty Cafe launched at St Peter’s Centre in Peterchurch last Wednesday with local artist Amanda Cross helping primary school children to create holiday books – a hardback book full of ideas, puzzles and plain pages for their own creations. The children enjoyed a picnic lunch while parents enjoyed a moment's peace with a bite to eat at the cafe, all followed by Shepherd’s ice cream and a play in the neighbouring park to make the most of the sun. Crafty Cafe runs throughout the summer holidays from 1pm-2.30pm each Wednesday. Places can be booked on 01981 550372 and sessions cost £5 per child including lunch and ice cream.

HISTORY - There will be a Golden Valley history day at Golden Valley Community Centre, Peterchurch, on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, with scrapbooks, photos, CDs and lots of interesting items from Hereford records office. If you have items to share, bring them along. Admission is free. Refreshments available.

AUCTION AND SALE - There will be an auction and furniture sale on Saturday, June 30, at the Golden Valley Community Centre, Peterchurch. Viewing and reception of lots commences at 9.30am and the auction starts at 1pm. There will be refreshments and a draw, and please note all unsold lots must be taken home on the same day. Come and have fun and get fit at the same time with Zumba at the Community Centre every Wednesday evening for only £5 per session. For further details please ring Janine on 07733 128512. SALE - Come to a grand garage sale at Hinton House, home of Maureen Bowran, on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm. The house is on the side road from The Nag’s Head Inn to Hinton Cross. There will be a good selection of high quality house and garden furniture, tools, table and bed linen, bric-a-brac, books etc, with refreshments and a raffle too. All proceeds go to St Peter’s Church.
