Pembridge whist, market, jubilee, WI, service and show

WHIST - Thursday whist drives in the village hall, which had been organised by Ted Vaughan for 30 years until his retirement, will start again on June 14 at 8pm. Old and new players will be made very welcome.

PRIDE IN Pembridge - Today (Thursday) at 10am. Meet at Pembridge Market Square.

MARKET - Pembridge Craft and Produce Market was successfully relaunched on Saturday with 14 stalls offering fresh fruit and vegetables, plants, cakes, pickles and much more. The next market is on June 30.

JUBILEE - The weekend will begin with a scarecrow competition throughout the village on the theme of “royalty” to be judged by the WI and there will be a flower festival and exhibition in the church all weekend. On Saturday there will be events for all on Millennium Meadow from 2pm and in the jubilee marquee, with a bouncy castle and slide, face painting, wellie wanging, bunnies, bugs and beasties. There will also be a decorated hat competition “suitable for a royal occasion”, children's fancy dress and an afternoon of family sports and wheelbarrow racing. Teas, homemade cakes and a bar during the afternoon with a barbecue and children’s disco starting at 6.30pm. Live band Business as Usual will play from 8.30pm. On Sunday the folk group Pyke Staff will play at the Market Hall between noon and 2pm with roast pork baps available at The New Inn. Cream teas will be available in the church.
