CHRISTMAS FAYRE - On Saturday from 2pm- 4pm, at the community centre, there will be lots of local stalls selling sweets, handmade gifts and Christmas decorations, cakes, Christmas wreaths, toys and clothing. Crafts and face painting for the children and refreshments available. All proceeds go to the Dragon Fire Club, providing after school care for kids. New Radnor 'Music in New Radnor'

MUSIC IN NEW RADNOR - The new season begins on October 13 at New Radnor Community Hall from 7.30pm, with soloists from Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra. They will be joined by Meyrick Alexander on bassoon, Peter Fielding on clarinet and Murray Johnson on oboe. Admission is £9 for adults and £3 for under-14s. For further details, call 231732.

New Radnor playgroup

PLAYGROUP - Olwen Morris and Bridget Gwatkin raised more than £400 for Radnor Valley Playgroup from their monthly bingos at Evanjobb Village Hall. Items bought with the money included a big caterpillar, ride-on toys and toys to play in the sand. Jo Williams, chairman of the playgroup committee, thanked Olwen and Bridget for supporting the group. The children and staff then sang four songs while they played the big drum and wooden claves, the latest items bought with the money. Olwen and Bridget also support many other local charities with their bingo sessions.

New Radnor Dragon Fire Club

DRAGON FIRE CLUB - The Radnor Valley Band held a Bavarian evening in New Radnor Community Centre recently to raise money for the Dragon Fire after-school and holiday club. The event raised £743.15. During the evening the band, led by musical director Dave Wilson, played a selection of Bavarian music while Bavarian food was served. There was also a chance for members of the audience to have a go at playing the tuned cow bells. The money was presented to Emma Bradford, vice-chairman of the Dragon Fire Club by band secretary Carolyn Price and chairman Michael Capstick. Emma thanked the band for helping them raise so much money and also thanked Marches Architectural Hardware of Llandrindod and S B Plumbing and Heating of New Radnor who each kindly sponsored the club to the tune of £100. The Dragon Fire Club is held in the Old School, New Radnor, term time from 3.20pm until 5.20pm and in the easter and summer holidays from 9am to 5.20pm. MUSIC - On Saturday evening The Mellstock Band give the last concert for this season at New Radnor Community Hall beginning at 7.30pm. The Mellstock Band has provided music for many period productions including Pride and Prejudice and Tess of The d’Urbervilles. Admission is £10 for adults and £3 for under-14s. MUSIC - The Music in Radnor season continues with the Arden duo, Gareth and Lynden Rees-Roberts, on Saturday in New Radnor Community Hall from 7.30pm. The voice and guitar duo will cover a programme of traditional airs, ballads and dances collected from Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Spain with the melodic and rhythmic beauty of the Spanish guitar’s Latin heritage.
