She then planted a commemorative rowan tree on the parish field before joining a tea party and buffet in the village hall. There was a disco, display of vintage vehicles and a working wood lathe, picnics, sports and a barbecue. Local singing group The Compost Heap and friends, entertained until the bonfire beacon was lit. About 300 people were there to sing the National Anthem. In September a social evening is planned to bury a Diamond Jubilee time capsule on the parish field and show photos and a video of the occasion in the village hall.
