Mordiford fete and new rector

CHURCH COUNCIL - The Parochial church council met in the church at 10.30am on June 23. The timetable for the appointment of a new rector was discussed. Preparations for the fete were finalised. Three new members were welcomed onto the PCC. Mrs Anita Deakin, Mrs Sue Day and Mrs Margaret Derring. The church fete was held at Sufton Court on June 25. Fortunately, it was blessed with fine weather and £1,365 was raised. On the same day, Peter Davies held a clay pigeon shoot, also in aid of the church and the £340 raised brought the grand total to £1700. Very many thanks to the Lugg Valley archers who brought a refreshing addition to the usual stalls and games, expertly instructing volunteers in the details of this interesting sport. Thanks too to Go Beautiful and Sue Hope's cards' for bringing their stalls. The talented trio, Unlike Jazz are always welcome and entertained with relaxing music during the afternoon. Thanks to all those who ran stalls, provided refreshments, donated prizes or came and supported the event.

FETE - Mordiford school fete will be held on Sunday, from 1-5pm. Meet Newbridge Farm animals, Kids Crafts, pony rides. Free entertainment: Birds of prey, morris dancing, Nicola's school of dancing, kids' sports races. Stalls galore. Toys, books dresses for divas, bric-a-brac, bicycle assault course Air Ambulance helicopter pod experience and refreshments.
