BINGO - There will be a prize bingo evening in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice in Monkland Village Hall tomorrow (friday). Eyes down at 8pm, doors open at 7pm. Everyone welcome except no children under six, please. Monkland bingo players have raised £261 for the Midlands Air Ambulance over the last few weeks, making a total of £521 sent to the charity since May.

FETE - All Saints’ Church’s annual fete is on Saturday at Beeches, Old Road, at 2pm, opened by Leominster mayor Coun Peter Macaul. There will be stalls, home made teas and Roger Willet will entertain during the afternoon with his fairground organ. If wet, the fete will be in the village hall.

DAWN CHORUS - The parish council is holding a dawn chorus walk at 5.30am on Saturday, led by Guy Poulton. Start from the village hall (parking available) and finish there for a light breakfast. Contact details from Wendy Jancey on 01568 720265.

SPRING SHOW - A very well supported village spring show took place in the village hall on March 17. 24 people entered nearly 300 items to be judged. Cups were won by Dee Griffiths for pot plants, Kath Morris the domestic cup, Lynn Hanley for floral art, handicrafts cup and highest number of points. Esther Morris won the art cup, Sid Lewis the cut flower cup and the photography cup, Rachel Crick won the best in show cup for a beautiful victoria sponge, Charlie Morris won the children’s cup with Charlotte and Georgina Blain runners-up. The autumn show is on September 1.

PRIZE BINGO - After a three-month break Monkland prize bingo starts again tomorrow (Friday), in the village hall. Doors open at 7pm for eyes down at 8pm. Everyone is welcome except babies or children under six.
