SNOWDROP WEEKEND - The famed snowdrops in the churchyard at St Mary’s, Marden, are coming into full bloom. Come and stroll around the churchyard, see the beautiful snowdrops and enjoy tea and cake in the church. Refreshments in aid of church funds will be available between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. All are welcome.

GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION - January speaker David Griffiths of Bodenham spoke on perennials. Backed up by his very knowledgeable wife, David took us through ground preparation, composting, selection of plants, planting, care through the winter and taking cuttings. The association is a group of very friendly and keen gardeners who enjoy sharing with each other and getting advice, tips and interesting information from visiting guest speakers. It meets every second Tuesday of the month in the Community Centre at 7.30pm. The next meeting is on February 14, when John Robinson talks on a Natural History of the Wyre Forest. GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION - Members enjoyed their Christmas social which included a draw, various readings, two quizzes and carol singing, all helped along by a buffet and fruit punch. The next meeting is on Tuesday at 7.30pm in Marden Community Room.

ILLUSTRATED TALK - The History Society is very pleased to have a return visit by Penny Platts. Penny's Illustrated Talk is on Monday, at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. Entitled Our Market Towns, Penny will give us a chance to learn more about Ledbury, Bromyard, Leominster, Kington and Ross on Wye.

HISTORY SOCIETY'S MEETING - Marden History Society's meeting on Monday in the community centre, is a presentation by Renier Crouse and Chris Roden (AMEY) on the work carried out on Laystone Bridge, Marden. This promises to be a very interesting and informative evening. The society's agm will start at 7pm with the presentation starting at 7.30pm. Marden fun dog show and Autumn fayre

FUN DOG SHOW AND AUTUMN FAYRE - There will be a fun dog show in aid of church funds on Septmber 18, 2-4pm at Marden Church. Categories will include prettiest female dog, handsomest male dog, happiest/waggiest/friendliest dog, most suitable dog and child combination, best matched pair (two dogs or dog and handler), most well behaved dog. The dog with the best trick, best shaggy dog, best young dog (under seven years) and best mature dog (over seven years). £1 per class - entry on day.
