OPEN GARDENS - Once again, by popular request, open gardens will be held on the weekend of June 22 and 23, from 1.30pm to 6pm. Visitors can take a gentle walk from one end of the village to the other, taking time to admire the beautifully tended gardens, with a stop halfway for a cream tea. END OF AN ERA - The death was announced at the weekend of Foxley head gamekeeper Jim Fairhurst who had worked on the estate for 33 years and recently received his long service medal from the Three Counties Agricultural Society.

CHURCH AWAKENED AFTER 25 YEAR SILENCE - More than 50 local people supported the Witness of the Cross Service on Good Friday which was the first service to be held in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Yazor, for more than 25 years. Yazor church is now looked after by The Churches

MEETING - At the meeting of the Soap Box Derby on January 12, no chairman was elected and as a result the Soap Box Derby will be suspended for 2011. Following was a Community Association meeting where a decision was taken that as the derby has been suspended, there will be a flower festival, taking place in the church on the weekend of June 18-19, and a village fete in the churchyard on June 18. Also subject to permission, a display of vehicles will take place in the paddock alongside the church.

CELEBRATION OF SINGING - The Helen Vereker Singers, in conjunction with Classic FM, invites everyone to take part in the biggest celebration of singing ever. Join in at the community centre on October 2, at 7.45pm.

HOG ROAST - 61 adults and seven children enjoyed a hog roast at the community centre. Thanks go to Chris Ogilvy who provided the hog and to Joyce Lewis who organised the event so successfully. £92 profit was made for the community centre.
