CAR BOOT - An indoor car boot sale is being held at the village hall on Saturday, January 28, from 1pm to 4pm. Eighteen tables are available so phone Ian on 01981 251613 to book a table or just come along and grab a bargain.

BINGO SUCCESS - The organisers of the Christmas bingo held at the hall would like to thank everyone involved in supporting a tremendously successful evening which raised more than £300 towards the hall funds. Bingo players came from far and wide for a most enjoyable, fun evening with plenty of prizes. Another one is being planned so keep your eyes peeled for news of this one.

HALLOWEEN - Madley Environmental Centre ran its annual wild halloween event on October 28, raising more than £1,000 for the charity. More than 400 people enjoying some ex-scream-ly good fun. The woodland walk raised the most screams this year with a witches’ banquet, a creepy cave and spiders’ lair all to be seen along the way. With lights, smoke and eerie sounds the walk wasn’t for the faint hearted. With lots of games and creepy crafts to make everyone had a fun packed evening. To volunteer to help with events or other work such as practical conservation tasks, call Louise Murphy on 01981 512561 or email contact@mesc.org.uk.

Results of Madley parish council meeting in October

PARISH COUNCIL - The meeting was held on October 4, in the parish hall. CSO Middleton gave an update on incidents in the parish. Refurbishment of the village clock and a request for a joint fundraising initiative from Madley PCC was discussed and supported. Highway defects were reported and parking issues discussed. The next meeting will be on November 1, at 7.15pm in the parish hall. All welcome.
