SPORT RELIEF - Primary school children will be walking around the village today (Thursday) to raise funds for Sport Relief. The school is aiming to secure its first healthy schools award and children are enjoying fresh fruit and a good choice of cooked meals accompanied by a wide range of vegetables.
The school is also going for an Eco-school award which involves many recycling and energy-saving initiatives.
Fencing has been erected for the new school garden. Adult yoga classes will be held at the school on March 24, April 7 and 14, at 6pm.
LENT LUNCH - The next lunch in aid of community first responders is on March 18, at Firs Farmhouse, Michaelchurch, from noon to 2pm.
People can come and go between those times and a donation of at least £3 is requested.
FLICKS IN THE STICKS - The next film at Escleyside Hall, Michaelchurch, will be In the Loop tonight (Thursday).
Tickets on the door are £3.50, children £2.50. Doors open 7.30pm for lights down 8pm.
HALL - Longtown Village Hall has new curtains and now awaits new doors.
Plans for improving the kitchen facilities are underway.
LONGTOWN PRE-SCHOOL - Situated on the site of the primary school, it has had a busy start to the new year. The toddler “stay and play” sessions for children aged under five and their parents/ carers are held every Wednesday from 9.30am to11.30am. The preschool is currently fund-raising through a scheme run by Suttons Seeds. The next project is the development of the outdoor area.
