WHIST DRIVE - A whist drive in aid of Llanbister and Llananno Churches was held recently in Llanbister community Hall. Gwyn Morgan was the MC. Winners were 1st lady Edith Conway, 2nd Margaret Groves, 3rd Mervin Thomas. 1st gent Kath Hardwick, 2nd Reg Bowen, 3rd John Livsey.

WHIST DRIVE - Took place recently in Llanbister community hall with Gwyn Morgan as MC. Winners were ladies Pam Pritchard, Edith Conway and Sue Sutton. Gents Elwyn Evans, Reg Bowen, and Kath Hardwick. Miniature 1st Sue Farmer and Reg Bowen, 2nd Alwyn Davies and John Livsey. Raffle winners were Shirley Evans, Gwen Farmer, Janice Davies, Gwyn Morgan, Iona Layton and Sue Sutton. Pat Allen proposed a vote of thanks to everyone for their support, all who gave prizes and served refreshments. Proceeds will go to Llanbister churchyard funds.

MOTHERS’ UNION - Llanbister Mothers’ Union will hold afternoon tea on Monday in the church hall, Llanbister, from 2pm to 3.30pm. There will also be stalls and competitions. All proceeds will go towards the local Cancer Research branch.

TEA - An afternoon tea was held at Llanbister Church Hall raised £220 for Cancer Research. In her thanks Ida Bufton, chair of the local branch of Cancer Research, told everyone how much progress was being made with the cause and treatment of cancer and thanked everyone who helped in anyway to raise so much money.

CARDS SALE - At the Llanbister Church 2009 summer fete children were asked to think about Christmas early and draw a nativity scene. The competition was won by Harvey Samuel and runner-up was Lauren Rees. The winning pictures were then turned in to Christmas cards by Jane Taylor and sold during the festive season.

CAROL SERVICE - The Christmas carol service took place on December 23 at Llanbister Church, when the Rev Nick Finlay introduced himself and his wife, Julia. He then welcomed a good number of people, despite wintry weather.
