Knighton Sunday services, coffee morning, singing, Cantal YFC and fund-raiser

SUNDAY SERVICES - Knighton Baptist Church, 11am led by Rev Maggie Rich and 6.30pm united service to mark the end of the week of prayer for the Christian Unity.

Knighton Methodist Church, 11am led by Mrs S Dalton. Knighton Catholic Church, Holy Mass 11am. St Edward’s, Knighton, 9.30am Holy Communion led by Rev John Greaves. St David’s, Whitton, 9.30am morning worship led by church members. St Andrew’s, Norton, 11am morning worship led by John Clements.

COFFEE - There will be a coffee morning at the church hall on Saturday from 10.30am to noon with stalls. If anyone has any unwanted gifts they would like to donate they will be very welcome.

SINGING FOR FUN - There will be a singing for fun session at the church hall on January 27 starting at 10.30am with Marion Rowlatt.

CANTAL YFC - Cantal Young Farmers started the year off with a bingo session which was a successful evening in Llanbister Community Hall. Club members thanked everyone who attended and supported the event. Members then went ice skating in Hereford. During Christmas week members did bag packing in Tesco in Llandrindod Wells. Club members thanked Tesco and all the customers who gave donations. Next was carol singing, the first night around the farms and the second night around the village.

The money donated is going to the League of Friends at Llandrindod Hospital and the stroke unit at Bronllys. The club also held its annual meal in the Three Wells in Howey with guest speaker Phil Gayther to entertain the crowd. Trophies were presented to Cantal’s senior member of the year, Lillian Wozencraft, who also took senior stockperson of the year, with Sophie Lewis receiving junior member of the year and junior stockperson of the year. Cantal Young Farmers are currently busy practicing for the pantomime competition in February having entered the pantomime competition and for the first time the One Plus competition as well. The club is planning to have another bingo night around Easter and the club’s annual whist drive is in March.

FUND-RAISER - Members of Monaughty Circle Youth Club raised £200 when they went around the village of Llangunllo just before Christmas. The money raised was for Hope House Children’s Hospice and was presented by members of the club to Illma Marpole, chairman and Pat Harrison of the Llandrindod Wells Friends of Hope House.

Monaughty Circle Youth Club is based in Llangunllo Community Hall and covers a large area including Whitton and Bleddfa.
