KIRSTY IS BACK - Exchange teacher Kirsty Dewhirst has been welcomed back to Knighton Primary School by staff, parents and pupils after spending the last 12 months teaching in a school in Australia. Kirsty met Sue Gilmore and her husband Lyle in Australia just before she left. Sue had taken her place teaching at Knighton for the year.

Kirsty arrived back in the UK on Boxing Day and said one of the things she was finding hard to get used to was the darkness in the mornings and evenings. In other ways she said everything is the same and it doesn’t feel like she had been away. She arrived at Knighton Primary school on Monday morning driving her little car a change from the Gilmore’s people carrier she had been driving for the last year. In school there was a lot to get used to in her class where routines had changed but luckily she was working with classroom assistant Mandy Eccles who had been working with Mrs Gilmore and could fill her in. Before Kirsty left Australia she established some secure links between Knighton Primary School and the one in Singleton. Her class in Australia recently emailed Dosbarth Glas-y-Dorlan in Knighton and are hoping to become email buddies.
