PRESENTATION TO FIRST RESPONDERS - Knighton and District First Responders have been given more than £400. Sue Jones, women’s golf Captain at Knighton, presented £124.50, money raised from raffles and fines for lady golfers when their ball landed in certain bunkers and other chosen places. The Alan Morris Memorial Crib league donated £200 and Ivor Davies presented £100 the proceeds from a charity crib competition in memory of his brother Glyn Davies. The money was accepted by First Responders Brian Jones and Glyn Moorhouse.
BOXING DAY HUNT - More than 200 people including the mayor of Knighton, John Morgan, packed into the Knighton Hotel car park to see the Teme Valley Hunt meeting for their annual Boxing Day meet. The meet was one of the biggest for many years with around 40 horses. This was also the first boxing day meet for David Savage as the huntsman. David took over after his father Roy died last May. Joint master Paul Segrott said he was really pleased to see so many supporting the hunt and thanked the farmers and landowners for use of their land. In the event, the hunt was keeping off the fields on the day, because it was so wet, and would stay on tracks. Paul also thanked the Knighton Hotel for hosting the meet. He will be stepping down as master at the end of the season and Tim Gunning will be the new master of the hunt with Frank Bright. Led by huntsman David Savage and the hounds the many horses and rider went up through Broad Street, Knighton and out of Knighton along Penybont Road.
