PRESENTATION - Members of Radnor Valley Vintage Club presented £1,000 to Wales Air Ambulance. The money was raised from the club’s tractor road run earlier in the year and from donations given by cider drinkers at vintage club member Jamie James’s cider press.
CHILDREN IN NEED - Nearly all the staff and pupils of Knighton Primary School came to school wearing spots for Children in Need on November 18. They all gave a donation and there was also a raffle for two hand- knitted Pudsey bears donated by Betty Gough. The bears were won by Bobbi-Leigh Boundford and Chloe Middleton. A total of £181 was made for Children in Need.
SALON - At Snips Hairdressing Salon staff dressed up for Children in Need and donated all their tips to the charity. They also raised money from a cake competition which was won by staff member Kelly Powell who donated her winnings to make a total of £67.50 for the charity.
PUDDING DAY - Members of Brampton Bryan WI were busy last Saturday morning mixing 230lbs of Christmas puddings. This included 10 pounds of vegetarian mix. The ladies started making the puddings a few years ago to raise money for local charities, a Denman College bursary and WI funds. The mixture is sold in bags weighing 1lb ordered in advance. The event was held in the village hall where there were also tables with a wide range of homemade produce for sale including cakes, biscuits and preserves.
FASHION SHOW - To raise money for Whitton’s diamond jubilee celebrations in 2012 a sub committee of the community council and helpers organised a fashion show and tea in Whitton Community Hall featuring clothes from Knighton shop Top to Toe. The models were made up of local girls and ladies. After the fashion show a traditional tea of sandwiches, tea and cakes was served by organisers and raffle tickets were drawn.
FIRST BIRTHDAY - Angelina’s sweet shop celebrated its first birthday since opening in High Street a year ago by inviting children to visit the shop for drinks and refreshments and raising money for Children in Need.
There were two competitions to guess how many sweets were in a jar, which were won by Cara Martin and Lucas Morgan. The shop raised £23.48 for Children in Need. The children from Playdays Nursery who visited the shop wearing spotty clothes and hats also did their own fund-raising for Children in Need and raised £68 by giving donations which were stuck onto a large Pudsey bear.
FUND-RAISER - Four children at Whitton Playgroup sold cakes and Pudsey biscuits on November 18 to the school children. During the week before they had been asking people to guess which cake Pudsey would bake and where he would cycle to on Children in Need evening. They raised £102.
BAZAAR - St Edward’s Church will be holding its Christmas Bazaar on Saturday at 3pm in the church hall. Raffle winners will be announced and there will be tables selling gardening items, gifts, cakes, books and bric-a-brac. There will also be a raffle, tombola and refreshments.

surgery will be closed for training from 1pm on Tuesday, reopening on Wednesday at 8am. For emergencies ring Shropdoc on 08444 068888 or call the surgery where a contact number will be given. The nearest minor injury units are at Llandrindod Wells, Ludlow and Kington hospitals.
MEMORIAL ENDURO - An Enduro put on in memory of Alan (Jacko) Davies by his friends in the Central Wales Auto Club and local trials resulted in £1,800 being donated in his memory to two local charities. £900 was donated by his daughter Kate Collett to the Knighton Community Support Project and £900 by Bob Jones to Marion Brick of Knighton First Responders. Jacko, who died last year, was a keen supporter of the Central Wales Auto Club and rode in Enduros himself for many years. He was also a marshal at all the local events.
MARKET - Knighton Food and Craft Market is on Saturday at the Community Centre, 9.30am to 1pm, including the Samaritans promoting their good work and a surprise from Onnyview Small Holdings. Visit kfcmarket.

MUSIC - On December 3 Knighton Community Centre will be hosting a show by Jamie Smith’s Mabon, a band that Roots magazine describe as “powerful, authentic and a tad wonderful”. The £10 admission includes a supper of homemade soup and bread which will be served at 7.30pm before the live entertainment. Support acts are being lined up to kick off the evening.

CHRISTMAS PRIZE BINGO - Knighton Football Club prize bingo will be on December 5 at the clubhouse. Doors open at 6.45pm, eyes down 7.30pm.
WHIST - The next whist drive is on December 1 at the bowling club starting at 7.30pm.
