STALL - Mary Niblock will be selling homemade jam, pickles, chutney and other goodies outside Spar on Saturday from 9am to 1pm with all proceeds to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
DISPLAY - A display of Beth William’s paintings will be in the foyer on Knighton Library in November. It will include the original work used for the Knighton 2012 calendars.

IRON MAN - Nathan Bradford from Knighton and his girlfriend Jade Garrett from Hereford have just returned from the World Championships of the Ironman competition in Kona, Hawaii. Nathan and Jade would like to thank their parents and family for all their help and to Climb On bikes in Hereford for its support with bikes and racing needs.
COMPETITION - At the annual St Edward’s Church sponge cake competition judges Neil Warrington and Sylvia Howe had to choose the first three places in two classes. In the decorated sponge cake category, Angela Lewis came first, Richard Lewis second and Margaret Johnson third. The undecorated sponge cake category was won by Angela Lewis, with Marion Brick second and Janet Lewis third. The overall champion was Angela Lewis.
CELEBRATION - Alison Bufton has just celebrated 25 years working at the Knighton branch of Barclays Bank. She had lunch with past and present colleagues and was presented with champagne, flowers and balloons.
Alison thanked everyone for their good wishes.
CAKE SALE - A cake sale to raise money for Phoenix, the group working with Knighton Town Council to build a Skate/BMX park, held a cake sale on Brookside Square recently and raised £266. Lynsey Price, Phoenix secretary, thanked everyone for their support.
CONCERT - Coun John Morgan, mayor of Knighton, is organising a concert in St Edward’s Church starting at 7pm on November 18 with the Rhaeadr Male Voice Choir. £6 per ticket from the Mayor or church members. Proceeds will be split between St Edward’s Church and Phoenix.
SPOOKS - Knighton’s Welsh playgroup, Ti a Fi, had a Halloween theme for their last session in October. The pre-school age children came to the session dressed in a variety of Hallowe’en costumes and enjoyed Hallowe’en decorated cakes and biscuits as well as the usual healthy snacks. The group meets every Wednesday from 10am to noon at the Youth Centre.
Lingen FILM - Glyndebourne Opera Films present Billy Budd by Britten at Lingen Village Hall on Sunday at 6.30pm. Tickets are £5 to include a glass of wine. More details can be obtained by calling 01568 770723.
PLAY - Third Man Theatre presents Stalag Happy by Edward Elks and Dan Frost at Lingen Village Hall on November 18 from 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 for adults and £4 for children (a family ticket is available for £23).
