A BARN dance / ceilidh organised by the Friends of Leintwardine Endowed Primary School raised £846.68.
Friends member Vicky Davies said “The event held in Leintwardine Community Centre was such fun last night. The band said that it was the best group of dancers they had supported for a long time! The live band, Silver Branch, were very good, energetic, talented musicians with an excellent caller. To raise all that money on the night was fantastic ”.
During the evening volunteers cooked and served hotdogs and burgers, and lots of homemade puddings were donated by parents and members of the community. The table decorations were made by children in the gardening club at Leintwardine School.
The Friends thanked sponsors Barclays Bank for match funding up to £750. Barclays staff member Judith Moyle helped organise the event, sell tickets and spent some of the evening helping behind the bar.
The Friends also thanked sponsors Ashby Stores, Ludlow Food Centre, Griffiths Butchers, The Jolly Frog, Griffiths Garage, The Lion Hotel, Aardvark Books, Morrison’s, Silver Branch for their donation and everyone who supported them on the night.
The Friends support the school by subsidising transport for inter-schools sports and school excursions, the purchase of computers, improving the school grounds and paying for special visitors to the school including authors, Roman experts, circus skills, dance and drumming workshop etc.
