FOOD BANK - The launch of the Knighton Food Bank (KFB) is on October 15 at Russell Cottage next door to Norton Street Baptist Chapel in Knighton. The bank will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am till 11.30am. The food bank has been set up by Knighton and district churches and is thought to be the first in mid Wales and also one of the first in such a rural area.

TEDDY PICNIC - On Sunday a teddy bears’ picnic will be held at the playground next to Knighton Community Centre between 11am and 2pm to raise awareness of the campaign to improve the playground. A group of mums, a sub-committee of Knighton Town Forum, is organising the picnic with the support of Radnor Hills Water and Minton Foods. The event will also include a raffle for parents and a treasure hunt for children. At the time of writing raffle prizes have been received from Knighton Hotel, Costcutter, Playdays, Evans and Co Opticians, Precious Earth, First four Yarns and W E Price and Son. “We are hoping to raise some money through the raffle and treasure hunt to support the grant funding that we are currently applying for,” said chairman Jane Jones. “But mostly we just want people to have fun and enjoy the new piece of play equipment donated by Powys County Council that will hopefully be installed by then.” In the case of bad weather the picnic will take place in the drill hall.
