YOUNG FARMERS’ DRAMA - On Sunday, Knighton and Radnor Valley Young Farmers’ Clubs will be putting on their YFC drama competition entries in Knighton Community Centre. Both Knighton and Radnor Valley did very well this year, finishing in third and fourth position. The doors will be open at 6.30pm for 7pm start. Entry is £5 adults and £3 for children under 16.

VANDALISM - Sometime between 11pm on February 13, and 2am the following day a total of six different windows were smashed in the Market Street, Russell Street and High Street areas of Knighton. Two windows were smashed at the Plough Hotel in Market Street with two other premises at opposite ends of Market Street also having windows smashed. A fifth window facing out onto Russell Street was smashed at the Baptist Chapel situated on the corner of Norton Street and Russell Street with the sixth being broken at a premises in the Narrows just down from Castle Road near its junction with the bottom end of Market Street. Two local people have already been arrested for two of these offences leaving four undetected. If you have information that may identify those responsible for this vandalism, or are a resident and saw what went on, please contact PC Bill Cowan at Knighton police station. TRAINS - Campaigners for improved train services on the line through Knighton and the Marches want the views of local users – and potential new passengers – on a possible new timetable. The scenic Heart of Wales line serves Llangunllo, Knucklas, Kinghton and Bucknell on its 121-mile journey from Shrewsbury to Swansea.

WHIST DRIVE - Knighton Bowling Club resumed its winter whist season on February 28, after having to cancel the last drive because of heavy snow.

KNIGHTON Primary School took part in the junior road safety officers’ club competition to design a poster about road safety and being seen at night. The overall winner was Antonia Stokes and runners-up were Lucy Naylor, Megan Roberts, Jamie Beech, Mia Davies, Sara Layton and Chloe Lewis.

KNIGHTON AND DISTRICT ROTARY CLUB - The tree of lights at St Edward’s Church, with lights dedicated to loved ones, raised £318. This will go towards the Kids Out Day for children from local schools with learning difficulties.
