COME AND SING MESSIAH - There will be a Kington Choral Society fundraiser on behalf of St Michael’s Hospice on Saturday at St Mary’s Church. Singers of all ages, ability and experience are invited to form a large scratch choir with Kington Choral to sing choruses from Handel’s Messiah under conductor Maureen Twiddy and organists Paul Wardell and James Roberts. Doors open 5pm, rehearsal starts 5.30pm with a 7.15pm bring-andshare refreshment break and 8.15pm sing-through. Bring your own score or hire for the evening (£2) at the door.

CELEBRATION - Kington Trefoil Guild members were part of the congregation in Hereford Cathedral celebrating 100 years of Girl Guiding. Amongst their members was Florence Price, still an active member who will have her own special celebration in August when she will be 99. The congregation, made up of Guiding members aged from five upwards, were enthralled to hear her memories of her Guiding days in Eywood and her description of the Guides’ visit to the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1924.
