Kington spring flower fair, thanks, and concert

SPRING FLOWER FAIR - There will be a charity auction in aid of Herefordshire Nature Trust at Hergest Croft Garden’s annual spring flower fair. The auction starts at noon on Monday. There will also be a wide range of stalls selling unusual plants, crafts and produce.

Other activities include guided walks around the gardens, wildplay activities such as face painting and making flowers out of recycled materials. Admission £6, children free.

THANKS - The “come and sing” day raised £1,500 for local charities. Kington Choral Society director Roger Langford thanked everyone who supported or attended the day.

The event attracted over 120 people in the singing workshop followed by the concert at St Mary’s Church in Kington. Special thanks go to local soloists Holly Taylor (soprano) and John Robinson (baritone) and pianist Paul Wardell. Funds raised were donated to the Kington branch of Home-Start Hereford, Singing for a Brain (an Alzheimer’s Society project) and the KCS Artists’ Fund. KCS intends these sessions to become regular events. Watch this space or visit kingtonchoral.org.uk.

CONCERT - There is a jubilee celebration concert, Land of Hope and Glory, with Kington Choral Society at St Mary’s Church in Kington on May 12 from 7.30pm. The programme of anthems past and present will include Purcell and Blow, Handel, Parry, Wesley and Britten. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
