LOCAL TALENTS RAISE THE ROOF - The magical hill-top 14th century church of St Thomas a Becket, Huntington, near Kington, was swathed in glittering candlelight,
as the church was packed with concert-goers for the memorable Music for an Autumn Evening. For the fourth year running, Paul Emery, a most talented singer, conductor and musician himself, looks for
good local musicians and actors to perform publicly, which gives them highly useful experience for their future, as well as giving the local people enormous enjoyment. Ten-year-old Honor Lewis gave
a reading. Alison and Freda, the popular duo from Kington Chorale, sang, as did tenor farmer Michael Labett with Neapolitan love songs. Rev Dennis Parry led his recorder group with amusing
variations on a number of well-known pieces.

FETE - THE most traditional fete in Herefordshire is taking place on Saturday from 3pm to 5pm. This is the 56th year running that the Jack family has hosted the Huntington Fete, which takes place
at Huntington Court, near Kington. Dorothy Jack, who hosts the fete, is an inspiring 95 years old and still presides over all the arrangements, including
making most of the jams herself from the produce of her extensive walled garden. The Huntington Fete teas are legendary and strawberries and ice cream are eaten in abundance. There will be fun for
all the family. A bus service runs from Kington Bus Station at 2.30pm returning at 5.30pm.

back to the Swan Inn at Huntington. Horse riders Elizabeth Trench and Louise Johnson narrowly headed home cyclist Steve Ingram. The leading runner, John Price, came in only 10 minutes adrift. The
field was open to all ages and the youngest challengers were Elli Smith and Billie Williams. The organisers would like to thank all those who so generously supported the event, raising £500 for
