Hereford planners' walk, magistrates, rolling in and memory cafe

PLANNERS’ WALK - Andrew Banks, Roland Close and Edward Thomas, three town planners from Herefordshire Council, together with former colleague Neil Robertson, completed a sponsored walk from Matlock Bath to Buxton in the Peak District to raise money for the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) in Hereford. To date they have raised in excess of £700. Their webpage will be open for donations until July 29 at mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/neilrobertson1.

MAGISTRATES - Herefordshire branch of the Magistrates’ Association held its annual general meeting at Hereford Town Hall, addressed by Judge Howard Riddle, the chief magistrate of England and Wales. Presiding over the meeting was the Lord Lieutenant of Hereford, the Countess of Darnley JP, the joint president of the branch. Branch chairman Paul Deneen said it will be a busy year ahead for the association and the branch, which would respond positively to the many challenges that would inevitably come its way.

ROLLING IN - Hereford’s Roller Girls have completed their charity walk. The group, part of the county’s first Roller Derby league, completed the 10.5 mile Walk of Worcestershire to raise £150 for Acorn’s Children’s Hospice. Their sights are now set on raising money for Herefordshire Learning Disability Trust with a quiz at Hereford’s Railway Club tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm.

MEMORY CAFE - Hereford Memory Café’s summer gathering is on Tuesday at 6.30pm at the WRVS Centre, St James. Everyone affected by dementia, carers, friends and family members is very welcome for a light supper, a chat and a “laughter yoga” session.
