News from Whitecross Townswomens Guild

WHITECROSS TOWNSWOMENS GUILD - In the October meeting of the guild, Brian Draper gave the second part of his talk on the River Wye which was greatly enjoyed by all members.

Also during October, guild members had a very informative and enjoyable afternoon visit to Madley Satellite Station. We were taken around the station and the grounds by Mr Nick Wood and some of the more adventurous members donned hard hats and safety jackets to climb up on to a platform of one of the receiving dishes.

At the November meeting the chairman announced that the regular coffee morning will be at Apartment 3, Barton Road today (Thursday), at 10.30am and the arts and crafts meeting will be held at 19 Windsor Street on Tuesday, at 2pm. For social studies on November 22, a visit to the Hop Pocket Craft Centre was planned for some retail therapy arriving in time for lunch if desired.

Reminders were announced about the Carol Service on December 10, at Eignbrook Church and the Christmas lunch on January 6. The competition was won by Mel Foster.

To round off the evening, Lesley Wilding gave a most interesting and enlightening talk on her time working in the Royal Household.
