FOR OLDER DRIVERS - Problems with roundabouts or road signs? Unsure about speed limits? Herefordshire Advanced Motorists are running a refresher day for the older driver at the Hereford Musical Theatre premises in Whitecross Road on March 8 from 10am to 4pm. Led by a professional trainer, helpful advice will be given on all aspects of driving, as well as updating knowledge of The Highway Code. The day includes the opportunity for a short, practical assessment of driving by a qualified advanced driver/mentor.

PALESTINE SOLIDARITY - Hereford Palestine Solidarity Campaign held a candlelit vigil in remembrance of those killed in the most recent Israeli assault on Gaza. The group read out the names of the 170 Palestinians and three Israelis killed in the attack, with a moment’s silence after each name. The vigil in High Town was attended by about 15 campaigners and was joined by members of the public. Campaigners, with banners and flags, also called for an end to the siege on Gaza and freedom for Palestine.

COLLECTION - Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, a registered charity, will hold a collection in High Town on Wednesday. The team of about 40 volunteers relies on donations to cover all running costs and attend call outs across the Black Mountains, Herefordshire and South Wales as well as assisting police in searches such as that for April Jones in Machynlleth.
