Hay on Wye U3A next meeting having two talks

U3A HAY - The next meeting of U3A Hay takes place at Summerhill Golf Club, Hay-on-Wye, on Tuesday, starting at 10.30am for the morning session and at 1.30pm for the afternoon session.

For the morning session our talk The Millenium Development Goals & Reducing Child Mortality – a personal reflection will be delivered by Helen Johnson, who works as a fundraiser for Save the Children Charity. We have all seen the harrowing newsreels of the recent emergency situation causing children to starve in the Horn of Africa, but in India, where Helen has spent some time, two million children die every year before they reach their fifth birthday. Helen will tell us what her work involves and how we might be able to help.

The afternoon session entitled The Magic of Christmas (a change from the previously advertised talk) will be delivered by our own Roger Catley explaining as to how a strange metamorphosis takes place every December when he goes to Lapland and mysteriously transforms into a certain well-known person who is prone to go ‘Ho, Ho, Ho’ all the time.

If you are not a member of U3A Hay and would like to find out more, please come to one of our talks where you will be made most welcome. Members pay £2 and non-members £5 per talk. Further information can be obtained from our website, www.u3ahay.org.uk or bettymchay@googlemail.com, or phone 01497 821023.
