PUPILS from Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School have been busy making gardens in shoebox lids.
The project was organised to bring in Curriculum Cymreig which encourages children to look at their local environment. The group discussed garden design and layout before drawing their ideas in their art books.
Each garden represents a birds-eye view of a typical garden in Wales with flowers, washing lines, paths, grass etc.
Both natural and manmade materials were used. One garden incorporated gravel from the school playground whilst another used sawdust from classmate Rhydwyn’s farm. Shells, pebbles, grass, wool, buttons, foil, paint and bubble wrap were some of the items the children included in their gardens.
