PRIMARY SCHOOL - The school has been buzzing with the excitement of Sports Relief.

Many children brought fancy dress costumes to run the mile run, and families came to support the children. Class one children made gingerbread and class R decorated fairy cakes. More than £1,500 has so far been raised. Classes all had the opportunity to have a taste of Superstars, which provides fun and healthy activities during the school holidays. It is running a holiday club for four days from April 10 – for details and bookings go to super-stars.org.uk. Thanks go to Chris Bray and Carey Godwin for a generous donation of floor tiles to upgrade some of the carpeting in school.

WOMEN’S GUILD - The March meeting welcomed optometrist Awen Campbell who has worked for Vision Aid Overseas in Malawi and Ghana. She illustrated her talk with slides which showed the expression on the peoples faces when they had been fitted with glasses and were able to see clearly again. The charity not only works in the local villages but also helps to train local people for the work. Glasses that we no longer need can be recycled by the charity. Members hope to raise money for the charity and will be walking miles, for Macmillan Nurses. The speaker this month will be Fiona Witcher on crime prevention in the home.

MAUNDY THURSDAY - There will be a meal and evening of fellowship from 7pm in the Baptist Hall, suitable for all ages and organised by the House groups. A service of Holy Communion will be in St Michael’s Church at 7pm.

GOOD FRIDAY - Churches Together in Ewyas Harold have organised the usual service of drama and music for noon but this year it will be in the Baptist Hall because St John Kemble’s Church is closed. All are welcome to this unique service led by Tony Hemson.

There will be a service at 10.30am at Rowlstone and at 7.30pm there will be a time of reflection in the Baptist Chapel.

LOCAL CRAFTS - From Saturday to Monday, there will be a sale of local crafts in Abbeydore Village Hall 10.30am-4.30pm.

EASTER DAY - Celebrate Easter from the highest hill in Herefordshire with a dawn eucharist on the Black Hill. Meet at 6am at the Black Hill picnic site (grid ref SO 288328) to climb up Cat’s Back to the ridge. For those less mobile there will be a dawn vigil at Dore Abbey at 6.30am and Holy Communion service in St Michael’s, Ewyas Harold, at 10am and at the Baptist Chapel at 10.30am.
