PARISH COUNCIL - The January meeting was held in the pavillion with Councillor R Baker in the chair, also present were the clerk and district councillor Graham Powell.

Bus shelter - Hereford Housing is supportive of the suggestion of moving the bus stop and shelter to Horsecroft. Consultation will take place with the bus company and the service users.

County councillor’s report - Current funding for the warden scheme will cease at the end of March 2012 but attempts will be made to keep this scheme going. Another Golden Valley group parish council meeting will be arranged. The Golden Valley Vanguard planning project will hold further meetings.

Community-run nursery schemes - Two more are imminent, at Garway and Burghill.

Six other schemes, including Longtown and Ewyas Harold, are expected to proceed.

Library - Horsecroft in Ewyas Harold has now been chosen as the preferred site.

Precept - It was decided that the council tax demand for 2012-13 would be set at £16,651.

Diary - The next meeting of the council will be in the pavillion on February 7 at 7.15pm.

PRIMARY SCHOOL - Your child can practise the French they are learning in class by visiting tout-le-monde.co.uk. This can be accessed directly from the Ewyas Harold website and is a good way for the whole family to learn a little French. After-school clubs are going in earnest – there’s dance on Wednesdays, drama and gym on Thursdays, and key stage two netball on Fridays.

TRAVELLER’S TALES - Tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall, local farmerjounalist Ian Howie will be showing Kenya through the Photographer’s Lens, with proceeds in aid of Ewyas Harold Methodist Chapel.

POP IN - For a coffee and a chat to the Methodist Chapel on Saturday, between 10am-11.30am. All are welcome.

SERVICE - Because it will be the fifth Sunday of the month there will only be one service, a group service of Holy Communion in Bacton Church starting at 10am.

MISSION - The theme of the worship on Sunday at the Baptist Chapel starting at 10.30am will be European Christian Mission.
