PRIMARY SCHOOL - A warm welcome was extended to new headteacher Mr Batstone.

Shared with Madley Primary School, he will not always be available but has promised to manage his time effectively in response to the needs and development of both schools.

In the meantime Mrs Chilcott will be on hand for day-to-day queries or concerns. Bags are to go out for parents to fill with second hand clothes, soft toys, bedding, curtains, handbags, shoes and belts. The bags will be collected from school on Wednesday and it will receive commission based on the weight of the bags.

PRAY - The week of prayer for Christian unity continues at the Acres every day except Sunday, until Wednesday, 11.30am-12.15pm and all are welcome.

WEA - It is not too late to join the eight weekly lectures which started on January 16 at 2.30pm in the Memorial Hall when Jill Salmons will be giving an introduction to African art and culture. The fee is £25.

YOGA - Classes started in Ewyas Harold Primary School on January 16, for 10 weeks costing £60 but there is still time to join.

Suitable for beginners and intermediates.

FLICKS IN THE STICKS - There will be a showing of Oranges and Sunshine (15) in the Memorial Hall tomorrow (Friday), opening 7pm for drinks, with the film starting at 7.30pm. £4 for adults, £2.50 for under-16s.

COMMUNITY LARDER - Tinned goods are still being collected at the back of St Michael’s Church which will be distributed to individuals and families in need. Vouchers for this food can be obtained from New Dawn, an agency based in Berrington Street, Hereford, which is also in desperate need of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, bedding, curtains, etc – all the sorts of things people need when they first secure a home. CAFE SERVICE - There will be a reflective service followed by refreshments in the Baptist Chapel starting at 9.30am on Sunday.

COUNCILLOR - Herefordshire councillor Graham Powell will be holding a question and answer session in the Recreation Pavillion at 3.30pm on Sunday. There will be no set agenda, just a chance for everyone to raise concerns or find out more information about how the council works.
